Acid catalysts (solid and liquid)

"Reusable many times" is a characteristic of our solid acid catalyst. Consisting of silica gel modified with sulfonic acid group, our solid acid catalyst realizes waste reduction and simplification of manufacturing process using this feature.

In general, inorganic and organic acids are used in esterification reaction, but the use requires a complicated process for removing catalyst as well as treatment of a huge amount of waste produced, which results in increased production cost. It may also result in degradation of product quality owing to insufficient removal of the catalyst. On the other hand, our solid acid catalyst can be easily removed using a mesh screen, etc. The desorption is as low as several ppm in s minutes. In repeated cyclic use, it has been shown to be resistant for several hundreds of hours at a reaction temperature of 120°C. It possesses thermal and chemical stabilities as well as mechanical strength. By being reusable many times, it reduces wastes, including catalyst and waste liquid, enabling costs to be cut down.
